Dr. Sa Liu
Dr. Sa Liu is a John Christian & Paul Ziemer Associate Professor of Health Sciences and exposure
scientist specializing in occupational and environmental exposure assessment. Dr. Liu’s research focuses
on the development and the implementation of comprehensive field assessment methods to understand
human exposures to chemical contaminants and their associations with adverse health effects in worker
and community populations. Her current projects take community-engaged research approaches to
investigate health impact of environmental contamination on community health with a goal to develop
and implement community-led actions to mitigate health risks and improve population health.
Dr. Yadira Santiago Banuelos
Dr. Yadira Santiago Banuelos
Yadira Santiago Banuelos is a 3x Purdue Alum. She is currently a clinical assistant professor and director of the FNP Program at the School of Nursing and also practices at our rural Purdue NCNC Clinics (Monon) where she primarily sees women’s health and prenatal patients, which aligns with her current passion and current research. Yadira has a strong passion with working with rural & underserved populations, maternal health and improving maternal outcomes in Indiana.
Because of her passion for providing care to the rural, underserved and Hispanic population, Dr. Santiago has focused on increasing resources and quality care while providing bilingual care to this largely Spanish-speaking community. Apart from providing medical care as a family nurse practitioner, she also holds her perinatal mental health certificate (PMH-C) and is a certified lactation counselor (CLC).
Yadira currently serves on the Indiana Maternal Health Task Force as a member and committee chair, as well as sits on the board of directors Postpartum Support International Indiana Chapter, as their Provider Liaison.
Her research interests include maternal mental health and maternal health, health equity, breastfeeding, and nursing education.
Dr. Kalyn Renbarger
Dr. Kalyn Renbarger
Dr. Kalyn Renbarger, PhD, RN is an Assistant Professor of Nursing. Dr. Renbarger’s research focuses on
maternal-child health issues, with a particular emphasis on maternal mortality, maternal mental health,
and maternal substance use disorders in rural areas in Indiana. Her work aims to reduce healthcare
providers’ stigma towards mothers with mental health concerns to promote healthier maternal-infant
health outcomes. Dr. Renbarger is currently assessing the use of doula services and birth outcomes for
women of color who live in Indiana. She also conducts research to advance nursing and midwifery
education and research in rural Uganda where maternal-infant health outcomes are poor.
Dr. Jennifer Coddington
Dr. Jennifer Coddington
Jennifer Coddington DNP, MSN, RN, CPNP-PC, Clinical Professor is Director of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program, Director of Practice and Outreach, Medical Director of North Central Nursing Clinics for the School of Nursing. She has over 30 years of experience in pediatrics and currently practices part-time as a CPNP-PC in primary care. Dr. Coddington’s research focuses on quality outcomes of nurse-managed health systems. She implements and evaluates unique models of care that address current challenges in healthcare delivery in the United States including: increasing access to health care for vulnerable populations, innovating rural health care, removing barriers for practice for Advanced Practice Nurses, and improving pediatric health.

Dr. Stephanie Scherer
Dr. Stephanie Scherer
Dr. Scherer is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Curriculum Studies and Director for the College of Education’s Center for Rural Research, Education and Outreach. Her research focuses on rural education, specifically on preparing undergraduate students to teach in rural schools and supporting rural teachers in improving instructional quality and student learning outcomes. She explores how teacher preparation programs can effectively equip future educators with the skills and knowledge needed to address the unique challenges and opportunities present in rural classrooms.

Dr. Margie E. Snyder
Dr. Margie E. Snyder
Dr. Margie E. Snyder is a Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Purdue University College of Pharmacy. She has an adjunct faculty appointment at the Indiana University School of Medicine, is an Affiliate Scientist at the Regenstrief Institute, and Associate Director of the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI) K12 program. Dr. Snyder completed her Doctor of Pharmacy, PGY-1 community pharmacy residency, Master of Public Health, and community practice research fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh.
Her scholarship is focused on community pharmacist practice advancement. Her expertise is in collaboration with practice-based research networks (PBRNs) and the application of qualitative and mixed-methods. She founded and directs a community pharmacy PBRN (Rx-SafeNet). Her research has been funded by the Indiana CTSI, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the Community Pharmacy Foundation, and other sponsors. She has published 65 peer-reviewed journal articles. She is the current Chair of the NIH Organization and Delivery of Health Services study section.

Muhammad Mustafa Hussain is a distinguished Professor of Microelectronics & Nanotechnology at the Elmore School of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Purdue University, and the Director of vFabLab. He is a globally recognized innovator in heterogeneously integrated CMOS electronic systems, with applications in AI hardware, healthcare, energy, environment, and defense.

Dr. Tatiana Ringenberg
Dr. Tatiana Ringenberg is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer and Information Technology at Purdue University. Her research lies at the intersection of social computing, human factors in cybercrime, and online safety, with a focus on increasing awareness and resilience against manipulation and exploitation in digital spaces. She has published extensively on manipulation processes online, including strategies used in online grooming and social engineering attacks such as online financial fraud.
In addition to her work on digital harms, Dr. Ringenberg also studies help-seeking behaviors and barriers to accessing care, with a growing interest in how rural populations navigate support systems in the face of health-related challenges. Her research seeks to inform interventions that improve access, understanding, and outcomes for rural communities.

Sherrie Steiner (PH.D.) is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Purdue University Fort Wayne. She specializes in social change, environmental sociology, and sociology of religion. Her research focuses on public health and religion.
