Dr. Jaiswal Lab
At the Jaiswal Lab, we are driven by a central question: what keeps our muscles resilient across life’s challenges? Led by Dr. Natasha Jaiswal, our team investigates how metabolism, aging, and environmental influences shape muscle strength, communication, and energy.
Our research spans multiple dimensions of muscle biology:
- Neuromuscular Communication — uncovering how signaling pathways preserve the connection between nerves and muscle fibers.
- Obesity and Aging — identifying why muscle mass declines in these conditions and how to protect it.
- Gut-Muscle Axis — exploring how the microbiome influences muscle physiology and metabolic health.
- Mitochondrial Function — studying the cell’s energy hubs to understand how they adapt in wellness and disease.
By combining molecular biology, advanced omics technologies, and translational models, we aim to reveal the mechanisms that safeguard muscle health. Our ultimate goal is to translate these discoveries into strategies that improve mobility, metabolic resilience, and quality of life.
