About Our Research
At the Baloni Lab, our research centers on understanding how environmental exposures interact with genetic and metabolic factors to influence health and disease. We apply systems biology, computational modeling, and multi-omics integration to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative disorders, with a primary focus on Alzheimer’s disease. By leveraging transcriptomic, metabolomic, and proteomic data, we develop predictive models and identify key metabolic and signaling pathways disrupted by toxicants. Our interdisciplinary approach combines machine learning, genome-scale metabolic modeling, and network analysis to generate testable hypotheses and guide experimental research. Ultimately, our goal is to uncover biomarkers and therapeutic targets that can inform precision medicine and improve public health outcomes.
