Strengthening responsive and sustainable communities together
Founded within Purdue University’s College of Health and Human Sciences in early 2023, the Center for Rural and Migrant Health is comprised of a collaborative group of scholars from across Purdue University and the strategic partner academic institutions who, in partnership with practitioners from community-based organizations, government and industry, work toward advancing rural and migrant health through research and training initiatives. Through these partnerships the Center strives to build responsive and sustainable health systems and strong rural and migrant health organizations.
CENTER CORE FOCUS AREAS:
RESEARCH
The Center conducts and analyzes studies to identify issues and implement solutions to address rural health and rural health care, as well as addressing the health of migrant and immigrant communities.
EVALUATION & TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
The Center offers an array of services to determine the merit or worth of a policy, project, program, agency, or system. Similarly, we help organizations assess the effectiveness of their efforts, improve programs, and report accomplishments to stakeholders and funders.
CAPACITY-BUILDING & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
The Center strives to build responsive and sustainable health systems and strong rural and migrant health organizations.
STUDENTS
At our core is a commitment to the active engagement of graduate and undergraduate students in our work; we view this as essential to growing the next generation of rural and migrant health scholars and practitioners. The Center engages students from across various disciplines and at least 50% of publications authored by Center faculty include a student co-author.
