Jane Mondul, Au.D., Ph.D., CCC-A

Principal Investigator, Assistant Professor of Speech, Language, & Hearing Sciences

Jane Mondul is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech, Language, & Hearing Sciences at Purdue University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Neuroscience from St. Olaf College. She earned her Au.D. with a specialty in pediatrics from Vanderbilt University after completing her clinical externship at the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed her Ph.D. in Neuroscience at Vanderbilt University and postdoctoral research training in Auditory Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Jane’s research experience spans basic, translational, and clinical domains in human and animal models, with the goal of improving research implementation. She is also passionate about integrating clinical perspectives with basic science to enhance audiology education. Outside the lab and the classroom, Jane enjoys choral singing, baking sweet treats, and spending time with her husband Corey, daughter Maren, and son Tanner.

Javier Díaz Laboy, B.S.

Ph.D. Student, PULSe Program

Javier Joel Díaz Laboy is a second year Ph.D. student in the Purdue University Interdisciplinary Life Science (PULSe) Program. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Puerto Rico in Ponce. He is co-mentored by Dr. Allison Schaser and he is interested in using mouse models, immunohistochemistry, and advanced imaging techniques to understand how neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s disease and auditory dysfunction alter neural circuits and behavior. Beyond research, Javier is actively involved in graduate student leadership and mentorship initiatives within the PULSe community. Outside of the lab, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, exploring new places to hike, trying a variety of cuisines, and visiting coffee shops.

Sophie Wignall-Dillon, B.S.

Ph.D. Student, SLHS Program

Sophie Wignall-Dillon is a first year PhD student in the Purdue Speech, Language, & Hearing Sciences (SLHS) department with a focus in auditory neuroscience. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology from Georgetown University. There, she received first-hand research experience on the peripheral auditory system, which inspired her to continue her studies in that direction. Outside of the lab, she enjoys choral singing, playing video and board games, drawing, and spending time with her family and friends (and furry friends)!

Megan Cunningham, B.S.

Au.D. Student

Megan Cunningham is a third year Au.D. graduate student at Purdue pursuing her clinical doctorate with a focus on pediatric and vestibular audiology. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Northern Colorado. Megan has a strong interest in research, exploring structure-function relationships in auditory and vestibular systems and the role of audiology in broader public health initiatives. She serves as a board member for the Purdue chapter of the Student Academy of Audiology.  Outside of the lab, she enjoys hiking, practicing yoga, and caring for her plants and cat.

Jessica Murphy, B.S.

Au.D. Student

Jessica Murphy is a second year Au.D. graduate student at Purdue pursuing her clinical doctorate with a focus on pediatrics and implantable devices. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from Purdue University. She is a member of the Purdue chapter of the Student Academy of Audiology. Outside of the lab, she enjoys attending Purdue sporting events, crocheting, being with her friends, and hiking.

Madeline Turpen, B.S.

Postbaccalaureate Student

Madeline Turpen is a post-baccalaureate student at Purdue with the goal of continuing her education through an Au.D. graduate program. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychological Sciences from Purdue University. Madeline has a passion for studying psychoacoustics as well as behavioral responses to auditory stimuli. She also has an interest in research exploring the potential causes of hidden hearing loss. In her free time, she enjoys reading, and taking care of her cat, Lily, and her dog, Murphy.

Hrishikesh Krishna

Undergraduate Student

Hrishikesh Krishna is a senior undergraduate student at Purdue. He is pursuing his degree in Neurobiology and Physiology, and plans to attend medical school. Hrishikesh has been involved in auditory research since his sophomore year, and has developed a deep interest to better understand the mechanisms behind hearing loss. Outside of the lab, he enjoys playing basketball, traveling, and working out.
