Françoise Brosseau-Lapré, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

Principal Investigator

Françoise Brosseau-Lapré is an Associate Professor of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) and a certified speech-language pathologist in Canada and in the United States. She holds an adjunct appointment in the Department of Family Medicine, Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Brosseau-Lapré’s research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and Purdue University. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on child speech and language development and disorders. Dr. Brosseau-Lapré is committed to high quality academic and clinical instruction and mentoring. She has won seven departmental teaching awards (six as Outstanding Undergraduate Instructor and one as Outstanding Graduate Instructor). In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three daughters, traveling, hiking, and visiting Disney Parks or Universal Resorts.

Pin-Hsi Liu

First Year PhD Student

Pin-Hsi Liu is a first-year Ph.D. student in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, Pin-Hsi hopes to pursue a postdoctoral position or faculty role after completing the program. In their free time, they enjoy playing with pet rats, going to the gym, and participating in ballroom and Latin dance.

Kierstyn Hubbard

First Year MS-SLP Student

Kierstyn Hubbard is a first-year graduate student in the M.S. Speech-Language Pathology program. Her hometown is Carmel, Indiana. She hopes to become a Clinical Fellow Speech-Language Pathologist at a children’s hospital or outpatient clinic after graduation. In her free time, she enjoys reading, creating diamond art, spending time with her cat, and attending concerts.

Ella Birgel

Ella Birgel is a senior majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences with minors in Psychology and HDFS. Her hometown is Crown Point, Indiana. She plans on attending graduate school to receive her master’s degree in Speech Pathology and enjoys doing her nails and spending time with friends in her free time.

She plans on pursuing a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and enjoys being outdoors, reading, and spending time with her friends and family in her free time.

Jill Robbins is a senior majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences with minors in HDFS, Critical Disability Studies, and Linguistics. Her hometown is St. John, Indiana. She plans on attending graduate school and hopes to work with children with special needs in the future. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with friends.

Maya Newton is a senior double majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and Developmental and Family Sciences with a concentration in Child Development, along with a minor in ASL and Deaf Studies. Her hometown is South Bend, Indiana. She plans on pursuing a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and enjoys going on walks, listening to podcasts, and watching reality TV with friends in her free time.

She plans on attending graduate school to earn her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and enjoys going to the beach, painting, and spending time with her friends in her free time.
