Françoise Brosseau-Lapré, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

Principal Investigator

Françoise Brosseau-Lapré is an Associate Professor of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) and a certified speech-language pathologist in Canada and in the United States. She holds an adjunct appointment in the Department of Family Medicine, Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Brosseau-Lapré’s research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and Purdue University. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on child speech and language development and disorders. Dr. Brosseau-Lapré is committed to high quality academic and clinical instruction and mentoring. She has won seven departmental teaching awards (six as Outstanding Undergraduate Instructor and one as Outstanding Graduate Instructor). In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three daughters, traveling, hiking, and visiting Disney Parks or Universal Resorts.

Itzel (Izzy) Matamoros Santos MS, CCC-SLP

PhD Student

Izzy Matamoros Santos is a second-year PhD student in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. She was born in Mexico City, Mexico and was raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She attended Marquette University for her undergraduate degrees receiving a BS in Speech Pathology & Audiology and a BA in Spanish for the Professions. Izzy then completed her MS-SLP at Purdue University. After graduation, Izzy hopes to apply for a tenure track faculty position. In her free time, she enjoys MMA, hiking, playing with her dogs, and traveling! 

Catherine Miller

Master’s Student

Catherine Miller is a second-year MS-SLP graduate student in the Speech-Language Pathology program. She is from West Chicago, Illinois and attended Purdue University for her dual undergraduate degree receiving a BS in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and a BA in Spanish. After graduation, Catherine plans to complete her clinical fellowship and become certified as a speech-language pathologist, hopefully in a pediatric clinic or outpatient setting. In her free time, she enjoys to swing dance, read, take care of her plants, and spend time with with her friends and family! 

Lexi Balciunas

Undergraduate Student

Lexi Balciunas is a senior majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. She is from Noblesville, Indiana. After graduation, Lexi plans to attend graduate school to become a Speech-Language Pathologist. In her free time, she enjoys to read and is passionate about serving Jesus! 

Emily Deldar

Undergraduate Student

Emily Deldar is a senior double majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and Psychological Sciences with a minor in Spanish. After graduation, Emily plans on pursuing a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. In her free time, she enjoys doing work for her nonprofit organization, The World Smiles Mission, reading, cooking, ice skating, and traveling!

Taya George

Undergraduate Student

Taya George is a junior majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences with minors in Psychology and Spanish. She is from Fort Wayne, Indiana. After graduation, Taya plans on pursuing a master’s in Speech Pathology. In her free time, she enjoys painting, going to concerts, reading, and traveling! 

Sophia Hagedorn

Undergraduate Student

Sophia Hagedorn is a senior double majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and Brain and Behavioral Sciences with minors in Spanish and Linguistics. She is from Greenwood, Indiana. After graduation, Sophia plans on attending graduate school to become a Speech-Language Pathologist. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hanging out with friends, and making cards! 

Emma Hall

Emma Hall is a freshman majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Science with minors in Psychology and Human Development and Family Sciences. She is from Kokomo, Indiana. After graduation, Emma plans on pursuing a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. In her free time, she enjoys baking, reading, working out, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family!

Anna Leady

Undergraduate Student

Anna Leady is a senior majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences with a minor in Human Development and Family Sciences. She is from Porter, Indiana. After graduation, Anna plans on attending graduate school to become a Speech-Language Pathologist. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her cat, Cleo, spending time with her friends, and skiing! 

Nicole Milharcic

Undergraduate Student

Nicole Milharcic is a junior majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, with a minor in Psychology. She is from Avon, Indiana. After graduation, Nicole plans to attend graduate school for speech-language pathology. In her free time, she enjoys taking walks, drinking coffee, talking with friends, playing Euchre, and watching Friends! 

Grace Moffitt

Grace Moffitt is a senior majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, and Human Development and Family Sciences. She is from Indianapolis, Indiana. After graduation, Grace plans to attend a graduate school for speech-language pathology. In her free time, she enjoys to catch up with family and friends, or try and crochet something new!  

Claire Richert

Claire Richert is a senior majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences with a minor in Psychology. She is from Glen Arbor, Michigan. After graduation, Claire plans on attending graduate school with the goal of becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist. In her free time, she enjoys reading, working out, hiking, and hanging out with friends! 

Chris Rogalny

Chris Rogalny is a junior majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences with a minor in Organizational Leadership. He is from Paramus, New Jersey. After graduation, he plans on attending graduate school. In his free time, he enjoys going to the gym! 

Olivia Schramer

Olivia Schramer is a senior majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences with minors in Psychology, Human Development and Family Sciences, and American Sign Language. She is from Plainfield, Illinois. After graduation, Olivia plans on attending graduate school to become a Speech-Language Pathologist. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family and friends! 

Julia Suter

Julia Suter is a senior majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences with minors in German and Human Development and Family Sciences. Purdue University has always been in her backyard as she is from West Lafayette, Indiana. After graduation, Julia plans on pursuing a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing tennis, traveling the world, helping out in the community, and spending time with her friends and family!

Bailey Whitlock is a junior majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences with minors in Human Development and Family Sciences and Psychology. She is from Lafayette, Indiana. After graduation, Bailey plans on pursuing a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology to become a pediatric SLP. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and dog, going on walks, trying new restaurants, baking, and doing adult coloring books!

Emily Wood is a graduating junior majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences with minors in Psychology, Human Development and Family Sciences, and Critical Disability Studies. She is from Noblesville, Indiana. After graduation, Emily plans to attend graduate school to become a Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist. In her free time, she enjoys watching sunrises and sunsets, reading, staying active through playing basketball, and spending time with her family, friends, and her dog Jersey!
