We study the language development of 4-5 year-old children. Our goal is to understand why some children have difficulty learning language, and to discover ways to help them learn language more successfully.

​​The Child Language Research Laboratory conducts studies designed to uncover the nature of Developmental Language Disorder in children. Progress in understanding this disorder should lead to more effective intervention approaches and to methods of early identification.

What we offer

​​Every summer, we conduct a special program for children with Developmental Language Disorder in collaboration with SLHS clinical staff. Children in the program participate in both research and language therapy activities in a preschool setting.
