What We Offer
What We Offer: for Families, Clinicians, and Teachers
We conduct our studies throughout the year, exploring a variety of questions about the obstacles facing children with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), and how to provide treatment that significantly improves the children’s language skills.
As part of our research, we conduct testing to determine if children show the characteristics necessary to participate in our projects. This assessment includes tests of speech and language ability, a hearing screening, and other developmental measures. We discuss these results with the children’s families and provide them with a written report. We are also happy to share this test information with other professionals if the families would like us to do so. No fees are charged for this testing because it is considered part of the process to determine if a child is appropriate for our research activities. Families are reimbursed $10 per visit for all participation in research, including this initial evaluation.
In addition, we offer programs that provide speech therapy (Summer Fun) or language enrichment (Year-round options) along with research participation.
Summer Fun
In our “Summer Fun” program, children with DLD between the ages of 4 and 5 come to Lyles-Porter Hall on the Purdue campus three mornings a week for four weeks to participate in research and receive speech therapy.

Year-round options
We conduct our studies not just in the summer, but throughout the year, exploring a variety of questions about the obstacles facing children with DLD, and how to provide treatment that significantly improves the children’s language skills. We see children both with DLD and children with typically-developing language.
