Biography

Dr. Renbarger is an Assistant Professor of Nursing with research interests in issues related to maternal mortality.  Her research aims to reduce healthcare providers’ stigma and biases against mothers with substance use disorders in order to promote healthy outcomes. Her work also informs interventions for mothers with substance use disorders and mental health concerns in the perinatal period.  Dr. Renbarger’s research interests also expand to global partnerships working with the Bwindi School of Nursing in Uganda to advance nursing education in Uganda.  Additionally, her work includes maternal substance use and domestic violence experienced by women in rural Uganda.
