Preschool Language Program

The Preschool Language Program (PLP) is a play-based, language-focused preschool for children ages 3 to 5 with developmental language disorders, or developmental language disorders in conjunction with other diagnoses such as speech sound disorders or hearing impairment. For more information, contact Anne Gritt at (765) 496-3192 or amotto@purdue.edu.

Preschool for Children with Speech-Language Delays

The Child Language Research Laboratory in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences offers a school-year program for 4- and 5-year-olds with speech-language delays that combines participation in a word-learning study with language enrichment.

Children are seen for one to two sessions of testing to determine eligibility. If eligible, children are seen for five to six more sessions. In addition to research, each session includes general language enrichment activities centered on a children’s book; the book provides a springboard for related activities that focus on vocabulary, sentence building and/or pre-literacy skills.

Families receive $10 per session and a speech, language and hearing evaluation for their child. These one-hour sessions may be scheduled at Purdue in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. Some sessions may be scheduled at the child’s home or another location (school, day care, community center).
