Biography

Ms. Hilliard is a trained anatomist, specializing in medical and clinically relevant anatomy of both human and animal forms. Recognized for her enthusiasm and innovative inquiry-driven educational approach, Ms. Hilliard reaches a global audience, appearing as a featured scientist on the international educational series, We’re All Animals, exposing youth to the diverse, exciting world of applied sciences. As a scientist and educator impacted by her own physical disability, Ms. Hilliard also takes pride in her work with the Institute for Accessible Science, a program accelerating institutional change toward the inclusion of persons with disabilities in science careers through assistive technologies, student and educator support, and research. Bringing this perspective, her technical expertise, and commitment to fostering practical connections to bear in her classroom, outreach, service learning and community of practice initiatives she enhances student engagement, learning, and success.
