Kayce Solari Williams

Biography
Dr. Kayce D. Solari Williams is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Public Health program. Dr. Solari Williams has a B.S. and M.S. in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University. She completed post-baccalaureate coursework in Curriculum and Instruction at Texas Southern University, has an MPH in Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences from UTHealth Houston School of Public Health, and a Ph.D. in Health Education with a Prevention Science concentration from Texas A&M University. Currently, she is enrolled in a graduate program at Florida Tech and completing supervised clinical hours to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA®). Dr. Solari Williams has taught at the K-12 and higher education levels. Her education and work experiences in academia have centered on the human body. She promotes movement in ways that are natural yet challenging and rewarding. Dr. Solari Williams strives to be a constant and consistent reminder to people about the joys of physical activity not just with words, but with proven, sound, and replicable actions.
Dr. Solari Williams is Association of College and University Educators certified and is dedicated to teaching and training future health professionals using innovative and inspiring teaching techniques as well as providing students with service-learning opportunities locally and abroad. Her primary research focus is to prevent new cases of obesity and associated comorbidities (e.g., cancer; cardiovascular disease; diabetes) through physical activity and active lifestyle promotion primarily among African American/Black and Hispanic/Latina females. Other areas of interest include the promotion of a positive body image and reduction of health risk behaviors in youth (e.g., alcohol and other drug use; sexual health; unhealthy diet; violence). Dr. Solari Williams is engaged at the local, state, national, and international levels; serving and leading in both community and professional organizations and she has received multiple awards for her community engagement. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, reading, and traveling.
