Biography

Margo J. Monteith is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Purdue University. Her research interests include stereotyping, prejudice, discrimination, prejudice reduction, confronting bias, and fostering inclusion and belonging. Her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and internal funding mechanisms. Dr. Monteith has served in various leadership roles, including President of the Midwestern Psychological Association and Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Purdue’s College of Health and Human Sciences (2020-2024). She was editor-in-chief for Social Psychological and Personality Science (2019-2023) and has served as associate editor for several other journals. Dr. Monteith received the Research Career Achievement Award from Purdue’s College of Health and Human Sciences (2019), the Distinguished Service Award from the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (2020), and the Purdue University Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Faculty Excellence Award (2023). Dr. Monteith is a fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Psychological Science, the Society of Personality and Social Psychology, and the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues, among others.
