Biography
Dr. Patrick Tutka is a clinical associate professor and part of the staff developing a new graduate sport management program at Purdue University. Dr. Tutka completed his B.S. in Secondary Education (Social Studies) from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI in 2006, and his MS (2011) and PhD (2016) in Sport Management at Louisiana State University. Prior to his time at Purdue, Dr. Tutka was a tenured faculty member at Niagara University, serving from 2016-2024 in the sport management program. He oversaw an M.S. in Sport Management from his arrival in 2016-2021, and was also part of the development of the Niagara Power (2018-2023) and the Niagara Sport, Recreation and Tourism Summit (2017-2022). Dr. Tutka has been active in a variety of national level organizations, presenting and serving on the Journal board for the College Sport Research Institute and its journal, Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics, along with several other organizations. He has published almost 20 articles in a variety of journals within the field of Sport Management, on topics such as innovation diffusion in sport, sport law and finance, and college sport facilities, which is where he began his research. Dr. Tutka is a strong believer that real world experience is the single most important factor for student success, and sets his courses up to feature these real world experiences for students. Dr. Tutka is married to his wife Carrie, and has a five year old son, John.
