Born and raised in Central Ohio, Michael Carbiener is a 30+ year veteran of the hospitality industry.  His career includes stints with some of the most innovative and respected organizations in the industry, including the Walt Disney Company, Levy Restaurants, KemperSports Management and Keiser/Dream Golf. 

Most recently, Carbiener was tapped to lead the executive team at Sand Valley, the latest Keiser/Dream Golf development located in Rome, Wisconsin.  In his role as General Manager, he oversees all operations at the award-winning property, including golf operations, agronomy, hotel, food and beverage and workforce training and housing.  He has been instrumental in developing a concierge-based real estate product for Sand Valley and is currently tasked with opening the Lido, an ambitious golf course reconstruction and private club located adjacent to the resort.  Sand Valley has recently announced a sweeping expansion, featuring multiple new dining venues, entertainment outlets, grass court tennis, aquatics and additional golf & real estate.

Carbiener has a long history of supporting advocacy and professionalism within the hospitality industry, previously serving on the Executive Committee of the Oregon Restaurant and Lodging Association and currently, on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association Foundation.

A generational Purdue alumnus, he is a graduate from the School of Consumer and Family Sciences with a degree in Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management.  At Purdue, he has remained active as a Lifetime member of the Purdue Alumni Association, Presidents Council and John Purdue Club, respectively. Carbiener and his wife, Julie have two daughters.  Meghan, a Lieutenant with the United States Air Force currently stationed at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas; and Maddie, a rising senior in high school and aspirational Boilermaker.
