School of Health Sciences

The School of Health Sciences is home to a variety of disciplines and scientific approaches to human health, including biomedical health sciences, medical laboratory sciences, medical physics, health physics, toxicology, and occupational and environmental health sciences. Our transdisciplinary research programs are recognized on national and international levels. Our award-winning faculty have access to cutting-edge technologies to investigate ways to treat and prevent disease and understand effects of toxins and chemicals that threaten human health. Further, our top-quality educational programs offer many experiential learning opportunities for students, preparing them for success and leadership positions in the field of health sciences.

Department of Nutrition Science

The Department of Nutrition Science educates students and conducts the highest caliber research in a diverse and inclusive environment. We work to maximize didactic and experiential learning through our recognized accredited didactic and coordinated programs in dietetics. Using basic, clinical and applied methods, our transformative research aims to generate and translate knowledge that will influence practice and policy as well as improve nutrition in individuals of all ages. Researchers have access to cutting-edge technologies through the Clinical Research Center and Purdue’s Office of the Executive Vice President for Research and Partnerships. Our faculty are world leaders and are sought after by national organizations and committees, including the American Society for Nutrition, the Dietary Guidelines Committee and the National Academies.

Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences

The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences is home to a thriving interdisciplinary community of clinicians and scientists who focus on speech and hearing sciences, neuroscience, audiology, speech-language pathology and linguistics. Collaborations between clinics and research are encouraged through the M.D. Steer clinics, which provide diagnostic and rehabilitative services to more than 2,000 patients each year. The department has accredited and top-ranked clinical programs in audiology and speech-language pathology as well as stellar bachelor’s, master’s and PhD programs. and awards Bachelors, Masters, AuD, and PhD degrees.
