School of Health Sciences

The School of Health Sciences is home to over 20 core faculty members, approximately 50 graduate students and over 1000 undergraduate students, and has internationally recognized research and educational programs in Biomedical Health Sciences, Medical Physics, Health Physics, Imaging Sciences, Occupational and Environmental Health Sciences, Toxicology, and Medical Laboratory Sciences. Faculty lead active research programs in these areas, with substantial funding from NIH and other agencies. The School is an integral part of the College of Health and Human Sciences, which aims to bring together scholars in the health sciences and human sciences to strategically address issues vital to enhancing quality of life.

Department of Nutrition Science

The Department of Nutrition Science educates students and conducts the highest caliber research in a diverse and inclusive environment. We work to maximize didactic and experiential learning through our recognized accredited didactic and coordinated programs in dietetics. Using basic, clinical and applied methods, our transformative research aims to generate and translate knowledge that will influence practice and policy as well as improve nutrition in individuals of all ages. Researchers have access to cutting-edge technologies through the Clinical Research Center and Purdue’s Office of the Executive Vice President for Research and Partnerships. Our faculty are world leaders and are sought after by national organizations and committees, including the American Society for Nutrition, the Dietary Guidelines Committee and the National Academies.

Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences

Housed within the state-of-the-art Lyles-Porter Hall, the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences has accredited and highly ranked clinical programs in Audiology (# 8) and Speech-Language Pathology (# 2), and awards bachelor’s, master’s, AuD, and PhD degrees. With 20 tenure track and 15 clinical faculty members, the Department is diverse and collegial and hosts a thriving interdisciplinary community. The M.D. Steer Speech, Language and Hearing Clinics are housed within the department and provide diagnostic and rehabilitative services to patients across the lifespan and facilitate research collaborations.
