Biography

Dr. Alice Wilcoxson returned to Purdue University in 2004 to fill a joint appointment as a Continuing Lecturer with the Department of Health and Kinesiology and an Athletic Trainer / Physical Therapist in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.  She maintained a joint appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor / Athletic Trainer and Physical therapist from 2005 – 2011, and as a Clinical Associate Professor / Athletic Trainer and Physical Therapist from 2011 – 2018.  In 2018, she transitioned to a full-time appointment in the Department of Health and Kinesiology.

Dr. Wilcoxson’s clinical experience is in the areas of prevention, evaluation, and treatment of injuries within NCAA Division I athletics and general outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation, as well as the treatment of athletes with vocal cord dysfunction.  A member of the clinical faculty, she teaches Applied Clinical Anatomy, Athletic Training Modalities, Therapeutic Exercise, and Athletic Training Clinical Courses.

Dr. Wilcoxson is a 2021 Indiana Athletic Trainers’ Association Hall of Fame inductee and received the 2016 Outstanding Educator Award from the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association.  She received the Education / Administration Award from the Southeastern Athletic Trainers’ Association in 2003.  Dr. Wilcoxson has twice been named the Department of Health and Kinesiology’s Undergraduate Teacher of the Year, in 2021-22 and 2007-08.
