Chris Ladisch began her academic career at Purdue as a member of the textile science faculty in the former Department of Consumer Science. Her research focused on cellulose chemistry and biotechnology applications for textile consumer products, and her teaching garnered awards of excellence at the department, college, and university levels. She is a member of the Teaching Academy and listed in the Book of Great Teachers. She has held numerous administrative positions, including Department Head, Associate Dean, Associate Provost, and Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. As such, she provided leadership in undergraduate education and dealt with matters of personnel, budget, academic planning, program evaluation, promotion and tenure, and general academic policy and development. From 2008-10 she led the West Lafayette campus’ preparation and self-study for institutional reaccreditation review and later received Purdue’s One Brick Higher for her leadership role in securing reaccreditation.

In 2010, Dr. Ladisch was appointed as the Inaugural Dean of the new College of Health and Human Sciences and then appointed Dean of the college in 2013. Upon stepping out of that role in 2018, she returned to the ranks of the faculty and joined the new Department of Public Health, which began under her leadership as a graduate program in the college.
